Passive immunity is
the immunity acquired by the transfer of ready-made antibodies from one individual to another. Passive immunity can occur naturally, such as when maternal antibodies are transferred to the foetus through the placenta, and can also be induced artificially, when high levels of human (or horse ) antibodies specific for a pathogen or toxin are transferred to non- immune individuals.Passive immunity is the immunological response caused by antibodies acquired from the outside of the body. The body’s initial response to a dis ease it encounters for the first time is quite poor, hence the initial encounter is always somewhat taxing on the body. What if everyone could be immunis ed without ever having to become sick? over the past two decades, biotechnology has advanced significantly, and we are now able to manufacture antibodies against dis eases. Even if the body has not yet mounted a major immune response, these premade antibodies offer protection. Active immunity may provide lifelong protection against a dis ease, but passive immunity is more temporary. https://f004.backblazeb2.com/file/pkrkkl/herbalcolonicscomplex/Specialist-supplements/Top-7-Benefits-of-Vitamin-B6-895.html
A vaccine is
made up of the antigens of the pathogen that cause the dis
ease. For eg. , the smallpox vaccine contains the antigens of the pathogen causing smallpox dis
ease. When a person is
vaccinated with the smallpox vaccine the antibody-producing cells are stimulated that produce smallpox antibodies. Thus, the body is
protected against the dis
ease occurring in future. Vaccinating pathogenic microbes into our body deliberately produces a similar response and is
termed as artificially acquired immunity. Immunization is
a process providing resis
tant to pathogenic microbes and other infectious dis
eases by the adminis
tration of a vaccine into the body.
The immune system is a complex system that is vital for survival. When the body faces harmful invaders, such as a virus or a splinter in the finger, it launches an attack to destroy the pathogens. People are born with some types of immunity, but exposure to dis eases and vaccinations can also help boost the body’s defenses. Some people have a weakened immune system because of a health is sue or medication use. A doctor can advis e on how to protect a person’s health when living with a weakened immune system. Ways of boosting immunity include dietary and exercis e choices, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and having appropriate vaccinations.
