Dear fertility doc,
my partner and i really want to focus on reproductive health.
What resolutions can i make for myself now that will help me be in the best possible position to start a family in the new year?
sincerely,
want to be ready
dear want to be ready,
what a great and timely question, and kudos for thinking ahead! for women and men alike, reproductive health is an essential consideration when you are thinking about starting a family, and it can never be too early. Although there are many parts of reproductive health that are out of our control, there are some areas where we can make smart choices to set ourselves up for success.
What are current key research questions?
• ‘cause and effect’ dynamics between poor men’s health, male reproductive health and early death. •epigenetics and transgenerational effects.
What strategies should be adopted to answer the key research questions?
• how do we address the above questions in a realistic and real-world manner?
simple steps to increase the chances of producing healthy sperm include: maintain a healthy weight. Some research suggests that increasing body mass index
(bmi) is linked with decreasing sperm count and sperm movement. Eat a healthy diet. Choose plenty of fruits and vegetables, which are rich in antioxidants — and might help improve sperm health. Prevent sexually transmitted infections (stis). Sexually transmitted infections — such as chlamydia and gonorrhea — can cause infertility in men. Limiting the number of sexual partners and always using a condom for sex — or staying in a mutually monogamous relationship with a partner who isn't infected — can help protect against stis.
